# Pai Gow Tiles - Advanced Splitting Strategy

## Introduction

The following pair-splitting strategies describe combinations to split certain pairs with based on tiles you can see in other player hands (or otherwise outside of the dealer's hand).

It is assumed that the dealer is banking. (If you are banking, it is unlikely other players will be betting against you, and even more unlikely that you will be able to see their tiles if they are.)

The combinations shown that you should split with are in addition to the combinations you would normally split the pair with, if any. For normal pair-splitting rules, see the optimal pai gow tiles strategy.

It should be noted that the overall impact on the house edge that these strategy adjustments have is negligible; the information is mainly provided for academic interest.

The following tile codes are used:

• H0 = a high 10 tile
• L0 = a low 10 tile
• H2 = a Teen tile
• L2 = a Day tile
• H4 = a high 4 tile
• L4 = a low 4 tile
• H6 = a high 6 tile
• L6 = a low 6 tile
• H7 = a high 7 tile
• L7 = a low 7 tile
• H8 = a high 8 tile
• L8 = a low 8 tile

• 0 = a high 10 or low 10 tile
• 1 = an 11 tile
• 2 = a Teen or Day tile
• 3 = a Gee Joon tile, even if it is the one with 6 pips and/or used as a 6-point tile
• 4 = a high 4 or low 4 tile
• 5 = a 5 tile
• 6 = a high 6 or low 6 tile (not a Gee Joon tile)
• 7 = a high 7 or low 7 tile
• 8 = a high 8 or low 8 tile
• 9 = a 9 tile
